Can you add more basic basics? For those for whom blogs are totally unfamiliar, an alien civilization 😉

For example: can RSS be read by web browser or only by special software, is RSS subscription is one for any addition to the blog, or could be subscription to a category or article, why should one subscribe at all. Usually people search for particular information, not a writings by particular author, and bookmark works well enough.

Or Partial and full feeds: is it something that you receive as email to read?

Scraper: I had seen designer’s blogs with photos from original blog, very short content and link to original blog to read more. Is this scraping or RSS?

How to deal with confronting, objecting, lecturing visitors, either believers in opposite or intended to show you your place? Say sorry and change own believes, engage in no-win debate, that makes you feel sorry about starting blogging at all, disallow comments for everyone?

Hi Daniel..when i read the first part of the article i thought you are starting a series of Blogger glossary and this is the “A” part. But lately i found it covers A-Z terms. I think it’s a good idea to compile list like this. I notice there are 79 terms in this post (if i’m not miscalculate it). Need to add more terms..

I’m also considering using a specialized copywriting software called Glyphius. Has anyone had any experience with this? It is supposed to use statistical analysis to optimize the wording of your advertising copy. I’d be interested in hearing any feedback, good or bad. Thanks

@Vishal, trackbacks and pingbacks are features built inside most blogging platforms that try to let the author of a blog know when other people linked to his article.

Suppose you write an article, someone likes it and link to it. If there were no trackbacks or pingbacks you could never get to know that someone wrote about your article. But with them you will get a small comment linking to that person.

Got it?

Backlinks are just links coming from other blogs or websites. If a blog linked to you, that is a backlinkd. If you added your blog URL to a forum signature, that is also a backlink.
