Certainly these are great tips, however I see fluctuations in my RSS subscribers, almost always goes down to 0 after a spike. I post regularly, so I don’t really understand what I may be doing wrong, or am I really doing anything wrong?

Anyway, i’m always welcoming tips. I’ll appreciate any tips on creating exposure for my site.

Write compelling content so people will want to subscribe. This article is interesting and compelling, so he finishes it off with a pitch to subscribe. You shouldn’t do this every time or else it will get old, but an occasional reminder like this is quite effective, particularly if the post has the potential of doing well on digg etc.

The biggest issue for us, that majority of our users dont know how to use RSS feeds, they dont know what rss feeds are, why they should use them, benefits etc.

Wow, I’m ashamed to say that I don’t haven’t done too much than the first 2 points, that is to have a relatively big RSS symbol and to have it above the fold.

In other words, I could do like 48 times better in getting new subscribers! Wow, I really like the ‘Run a Contest’ and ‘Do something funny below the RSS symbol’

this is a fantastic post. i have read about all of these techniques at different times, but i have never seen them enumerated so clearly all in one place. this is definitely going to be my go-to post when i really get serious about growing my subscriber base.

i feel like my blog needs a redesign before i go all-out for traffic (it’s got a lovely quirky little design now, lots of personality, but the features are limited so i’m upgrading to thesis).
